Chapter 2. SafeAccess Installation

SafeAccess is designed to work with Safe Software's SafeSFS product. Many of the features in SafeAccess only work with SafeSFS. It is highly recommended that you use both products together. If you plan to use SafeAccess and SafeSFS, SafeSFS version 2.1.0 or higher must be installed before continuing with the SafeAccess installation procedure below.
Load the SafeAccess Product code
This section describes how to load the SafeAccess Product code to a work disk in preparation of installing SafeAccess.
Step 1: Review the README.TXT file on the SafeAccess Product diskette.
Instructions contained in the readme file add to or supersede the instructions listed here.
Step 2: Obtain a work mdisk of 1800 4K blocks or larger.
The mdisk may be a TDISK or SFS Directory if desired. Format the mdisk using the CMS FORMAT command.
Step 3: Load the SafeAccess Product Code from the SafeAccess Product Diskette:
Use a PC file transfer program to transfer the SAC110.VMA file from the SafeAccess diskette to the work mdisk as file SAC110 VMARC. Perform the transfer in "binary" mode.
Step 4: Load the SafeAccess HTML Documentation from the SafeAccess Product Diskette:
Use a PC file transfer program to transfer the SACHTM.VMA file from the SafeAccess diskette to the work mdisk as file SACHTM VMARC. Perform the transfer in "binary" mode.
Step 5: Issue the command:
PIPE < SAC110 VMARC fm | FBLOCK 80 | > SAC110 VMARC fm F 80
Where fm is the CMS filemode of the work mdisk
Step 6: Run VMARC to unpack all of the files in the archive to the work disk.
Issue the command VMARC UNPK SAC110 VMARC fm = = fm to unpack the SafeAccess product files to the work mdisk accessed as file mode fm. The command VMARC LIST SAC110 VMARC fm may be used to list the files in the archive.
The SafeAccess product code has now been loaded. Continue the installation process by following the steps in the next section, "Install the SafeAccess Server".
Note: The VMARC utility is a publicly available program that may be downloaded from various sites on the internet. The VMARC utility may be downloaded from URL: http://www.marist.edu/~workshop/vmarc.html.
